2020 Fall Season

By LSC Board 08/14/2020, 9:00pm EDT

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Coaches,

It has been a tough road, but we are finally getting ready to go!
Throughout this time, we have taken a proactive approach and have continued to plan for the start of our upcoming Recreation and Travel seasons. As part of this planning effort we have been in communication with and receiving guidance from Town and Board of Education officials. While this has allowed us to do initial preparation, we have been awaiting a final decision and direction to be provided by these officials about requirements for sports and gatherings. As of Friday August 14, 2020, we have been given the approval to move forward and start to have training and to setup fall teams for Recreation Soccer. Please note, although we feel confident about moving forward with plans to play, all activities are subject to change based on any future mandates that may be provided by State and Town agencies.

As of right now, we will be setting up a Zoom meeting with coaches and then with all families the week of August 24, 2020. We would like to hold some training sessions for all divisions that same week. The hope is to have teams and schedules posted the week of August 31 and to start games the week of September 14. This schedule is tentative and will be adjusted as needed based on all guidelines and mandates we must follow.

Player registration will remain open and we are hopeful that we will continue to pick up more players. However, as you might expect, our registration numbers are lower and currently comprise about 60% of what they are in a typical season. As a result, we will try and proceed with the best training, coaching, and game experience that we can provide based on these numbers. This will likely include smaller sided play for each age group/division (ie; less players on the field at one time). Although this is different than usual, we feel players will benefit from more opportunity for playing time during games and training sessions. The small sided approach provides a unique and fun playing opportunity for all children.

Thank you for your faith and understanding and be well and safe.

Lyndhurst’s Gress earns place with Team USA girls’ soccer squad

By LSC Staff via The Observer 05/18/2020, 6:15pm EDT

A lot of kids aspire to reach the highest rung on the sports ladder, but only a handful makes it even halfway up. Even fewer reach the top of the ladder.

Mackenzie Gress is certainly not one of those.

In fact, Gress, the Lyndhurst High School sophomore, is just about at the pinnacle of the soccer world.

When Gress started to play soccer as a little girl, she was already a rare breed. She felt totally comfortable right away as a goalkeeper.

“I played for the Lyndhurst Recreation travel soccer team,” said the 15-year-old Gress. “I played half the game in the field and half in goal. But I really liked being a goalie.”

LSC Coronavirus Guidance Announcement

By LSC Staff 03/13/2020, 9:30pm EDT

UPDATE, April 27th 2020:

Due to the current situation with COVID-19 and uncertainty of when New Jersey schools may reopen, the Lyndhurst Soccer Club Board has decided to cancel the 2020 Spring season. The health and Safety of our players, parents, coaches and referees is more important than anything else and we believe this is the only option.

Refunds for anyone who has registered will be processed on the week of April 27th, and have all been processed.

We are excited and look forward to an exciting FALL season!!!

To All Lyndhurst Soccer Players and Families,

We wanted to provide an update and advisory on the emerging and evolving health situation regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and what precautions are being implemented.

The Lyndhurst Soccer Club (LSC) Board has been in contact with Commissioners and Officials from the Township of Lyndhurst as well as Health Organizations to obtain guidance on this situation.  As you likely know, all Lyndhurst Schools have been temporarily closed as a step to reduce the risk of exposure to our children.  In alignment with actions taken by local community and health organizations as well as regional government agencies, the LSC will also be taking measures to reduce any health risk to our Club’s Players and Members.

All of our Travel Program Teams currently play in the Northern Counties Soccer Association (NCSA) league.  The NCSA has currently suspended the start of the Travel Spring Season until April 19th.  The Lyndhurst Soccer Club (LSC) supports this proactive step to safeguard our players and their families and requests that all LSC Travel Teams suspend practices until it is deemed safe to resume.

Further, the Lyndhurst Recreation League Spring Season opening will also be postponed.  We are currently targeting a start of May 1st which represents a two-week delay from our originally planned start date.  Again, we ask that all teams refrain from scheduling practices until it is deemed safe to do so.  Additional communication will be provided by the Board as we receive information from the Town and Health Officials.

This is an evolving situation and the LSC Board will remain in contact with Town Officials and Health Organizations so we can be aware of the most current information and guidance that is being provided.  We will continue to communicate updates and changes as they become available.  Until then, we appreciate everyone’s anticipated cooperation in this collaborative effort to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our Soccer Club Members and our Community.

Thank you and stay safe.
